Water-based, abrasion-resistant varnish Aqua HWS-712-Hartwachs-Siegel

03 of September '23

Varnishing a domestic staircase is usually associated with a not-so-pleasant solvent smell and the need to temporarily abandon use of the upstairs rooms, or to cover every other step with varnish. Meanwhile, created on the basis of renewable raw materials, the water-based, abrasion-resistant, one-component closing varnish Aqua HWS-712-Hartwachs-Siegel [eco] safely avoids these problems.

This is because the coating dries remarkably fast, is scratch- and abrasion-resistant, non-slip, and has hydrophobic properties and a very low tendency to shine, which further supports this varnish as the right choice for covering new or renovated stairs.

That's not all: this water-based varnish , which is available in clear, intensive, natural wood effect and custom-made colors, can be used with equal success on furniture and other wooden interior components, and even on terrace or garden furniture, as long as they are protected from direct weathering. It can also be used to coat table tops and worktops without fear , especially since it meets the requirements of DIN 68861, 1B, for chemical resistance, and leaves both a very natural look and feel to the painted surface. Chemical resistance can be increased by using this product with a 2% addition of Remmers' Aqua VGA-485, which is free of harmful isocyanates.

This is a product for professional users, so it is worth bearing in mind that it contains no VOCs, is flame retardant and spontaneously combustible. Aqua HWS-712 is applied in two thin coats with a roller or spray. The binder in this material is modified vegetable oils and copolymers based on renewable raw materials, making it a vegan product.

The varnish is certified to DIN EN 71-3, making it suitable even for use on children's toys, and has passed tests according to the AgBB scheme and the French VOC scheme for emissions of volatile organic compounds into the atmosphere. Its fire classification (B-s1, d0) and the aforementioned EPH-certified non-combustibility further places this product among very safe coatings.
