MONOKLIMA - air conditioners invisible from the outside

23 of May '23

Eco-friendly solutions and technologies—trends 2023

A classic air-conditioning system, in the simplest terms, consists of an indoor unit that cools the room (receives heat), and an outdoor unit that gives off heat to the outside.

Is it possible to omit the outdoor component (the unit) and still have a functional air conditioner?

Monoklima brand specializes in the promotion and distribution of specific air conditioners without an outdoor unit. The available products allow both cooling and reheating of rooms in buildings where it is impossible or difficult to install a standard solution with an outdoor unit. For example, in historic buildings, where the aesthetics of the facade should not be disturbed, or when its installation involves additional costs, such as: working in the road lane, renting lifts....

With regard to the type of construction and operation of equipment Monoklima—offers four basic types of air conditioners:

Monoclima—air-to-air monoblocks (compacts), the most popular, need direct access to the outside air (usually the outside wall). A representative of this category, among others, is the INNOVA „2.0” indoor monobloc air conditioner with an excellent design that makes the unit „neutral”, only 16 centimeters deep and extremely quiet. It allows cooling and reheating of rooms, and can be installed both high up and at the very floor. The cooling power of these models usually does not exceed 3 kW, and the most powerful 3.5 kW. An important advantage of monoblocks is simple disassembly, requiring no specialized tools—which facilitates service, repair or installation in another location.

Monoclimate—indoor air-to-air splits and multisplits, constructed similarly to standard air conditioners—have two units—the diffuser and the unit (with compressor). The difference is that the unit is mounted inside the building, for example, in a utility room, attic or basement—in a place with access to outside air. This is a compact, quiet, efficient and outwardly invisible solution, allowing the supply units to be installed anywhere.

Monoclimate—monoblocks, splits and "water" (water-to-air) multisplits are units that use water to dissipate heat. Thus, they do not need access to outside air and can be placed anywhere water can be supplied.

An example of this type of unit is Monoklima Inn H2O, a monobloc air conditioner from the previously mentioned INNOVA „2.0” series. These models operate independently of outdoor conditions, requiring only a connection to water and sewerage, and can also operate in closed water circuits. In our conditions, this solution is less often used in residential facilities due to the relatively high price of water (required flow of 70—200 L /hour for standard capacities) and its general shortage.

Another interesting device is the IN.CH indoor chiller (chilled water generator) with a capacity of up to 10 kW, to which any fan coil units (fancoils), i.e. emitters of heat or cold, can be connected. IN.CH is installed inside the facility usually against an outside wall, requires access to outside air and a supply of treated tap water (low consumption).

Fan coil units are offered in versions for installation on or inside the building envelope (in walls, ceilings, floor). This allows you to hide the equipment and preserve the designed interior design.

We also offer „hybrid” monoblocks:

  • with built-in electric heater—improve heating operation in winter,

  • models with built-in water exchanger, for example, to be installed in place of a radiator.

TO SUM UP—MONOCLIMATE AIR CONDITIONERS CAN BE USED ANYWHERE, ESPECIALLY IN SITUATIONS:

  • When there is no possibility or it is difficult to install an outdoor unit with traditional split-type air conditioners—for technical, legal reasons (e.g. historic buildings),

  • When the outdoor unit may interfere with the aesthetics of the building or facade,

  • To provide maximum comfort at the lowest cost—for example, in hotel rooms through expanded hotel functions and Wi-Fi control (selected models),

  • When there is a possibility of devastation, theft of the outdoor unit—in summer houses, construction sites, office containers, etc,

  • When the installation of an outdoor genset involves additional costs—such as in tall buildings renting a lift, equipment, etc,

  • When there is a need to economically maintain an anti-freeze „on-call” temperature, e.g. cottages used periodically, in small rooms.
