We take a look at an apartment in Mokotów, located right next to the picturesque Królikarnia park. The journalist wanted her interior to stand out for its minimalist warmth, so she opted for a japandi style.

      New, calmer arrangement

The premise of the owner and her partner was to create a neutral space in this place, which is not overloaded and allows one to calm down. At work, Magda has to be creative and inventive. After work, the excitement subsides a bit, and at home the stylist likes to wrap herself in tranquility. According to the plan, it was supposed to be a comfort zone and a place where it is easy to recover. The apartment was first finished in 2004, when the building was being constructed. Since then, time has stopped in it and the solutions used then have become passe. Exotic and very dark wood on the floor, crystal chandeliers on the ceiling, purple accessories. This is what this 85 sqm apartment looked like the day it was purchased. To get more light and space, the wall that separated the kitchen from the living room was removed. The usual paint was replaced with micro-cement, and the black stone tiles on the kitchen floor were painted with white resin. The replacement kitchen was dismantled and moved to another apartment. Architect Emilia Jędrejek helped design the new version of the apartment.

      The main character

The subdued arrangement that Magda was so keen on was reflected, among other things, in the design of the bedroom and kitchen. Its built-ins set the tone for the entire apartment and are a key part of the living room. The kitchen cabinets have simple, neutral lines, and the beautiful effect here is provided by stone. It is found on the countertops and the wall. It also covers the kitchen island.

      - We had a ready-made kitchen, but couldn't find a countertop that would perfectly complement the design. We preferred to think everything through carefully and even wait, rather than decide on something under pressure, without feeling that it was exactly right - Magda describes.

      Smart interior

The whole apartment has a lot of smart solutions in it. In the kitchen, the time is measured by the Google system, water from the tap can be carbonated or not. In the island, contacts with phone charging options have been installed. Meanwhile, speakers have been installed in the stone island. Sitting on the sofa, they are right behind your back, so it's easy to feel like you're in a movie theater here. An eye-catching addition are the Danish lamps hanging above the island, which maintain a colorful order, emphasizing the stylist's love of design. The smart system allows you to play with the colors of the lights, so just by using your phone, you can make the island light for example, in pink, blue or white, depending on your mood. Playing with color is facilitated by remote-controlled curtains, set to sunrises and sunsets. All these modern solutions were introduced by Magda's partner, who is a programmer and IT specialist, and gadgets are his hobby.

      In the spirit of vintage

However, in this technology-filled apartment, you'll also find, for example, vases found in a bazaar. Magda's love of antiques was passed on to her by her grandmother, who for years collected porcelain figurines, filling all her cupboards with them. Today, the Sunday flea market is a regular weekend fixture. It is for the gems of the antique market that a wall with wooden shelves was created. You can display books, albums, candles or your favorite vases or candlesticks on it. There are also contemporary decorations.

Two adopted cats are equal residents here. Beacuse of it sofa was upholstered with a special Italian fabric. If they scratch the sofa, the fabric won't pull so easily. The large oak table is a souvenir of black friday and online shopping.

      - One white chair set in the front is the best investment of 20 zlotys, purchased at an antique market in Kalisz - laughs the owner.
