Schüco - modern residential architecture with impressive prospects

17 of January '26

The starting point for the design of modern living spaces is light and views, which penetrate the interior through large-format glazing. Schüco's modern PVC-U windows and sliding doors with a subtle appearance provide extensive possibilities for creating buildings with functional, open architecture.

In the design of modern residential buildings, the area of glazing is increasing, thanks in part to the use of floor-to-ceiling windows and doors, often with slender frames, which allow the glazing area to be increased. Large windows harmoniously connect indoor and outdoor spaces, providing daylight and an optimal view of the surroundings. As modern living spaces are increasingly becoming work spaces as well, more attention than ever is also being paid to user comfort and customization of all elements to meet the needs of the occupants. Schüco's energy-efficient PVC-U window systems provide almost unlimited possibilities for realizing easy-to-operate, large-format sliding windows and doors in a variety of designs, opening types and colors.

Toward light and nature

Schüco's modern PVC-U windows make it possible to design large, striking glazing that maintains thermal performance, structural stability and ease of operation for years to come. For example, the LivIng system of PVC-U, with its increased installation depth of 82 mm, makes it possible to produce stable windows and portfères with sashes as high as 2.6 meters. What's more, using various types of connecting and expansion profiles, it is possible to realize impressive multi-part glazing consisting of fixed and opening elements. The clear appearance of the woodwork will be emphasized by the minimalist Classic contour or the modern Viva. An even better visual effect is provided by the Schüco Symbiotic plastic-aluminum system. It allows the realization of large-format windows and even entire window strips with a durable aluminum surface on the outside and warm-to-the-touch PVC-U frames on the inside. The solution is notable for its minimum visible profile face width of 110 mm with the possibility of glazing up to 52 mm.

The elegant design of the joinery is emphasized by the simple geometry of the aluminum profiles and the flush glazing surfaces in the opening and fixed sections. The exterior aluminum surface can be powder-coated in any RAL color or anodized, while the interior PVC-U surface can be finished with a decorative film from a wide range of more than 300 solid shades, in colors of different woods or metallic. On the other hand, in modernized buildings, FocusIng PVC-U windows with a minimalist appearance reminiscent of aluminum joinery and a shallow installation depth of 70 mm frame and 76 mm sash will be ideal. In both two- and three-welded seal versions, the high-quality FocusIng window achieves a Uw coefficient of 0.8 W/m2K with the appropriate double-glazing. Both the Symbiotic and FocusIng systems blend in perfectly with aluminum joinery in buildings with a commercial area on the first floor because of their simple, minimalist appearance.

Comfort and view without compromise

In modern multi-apartment buildings, floor-to-ceiling portfères are often used to replace balconies especially on street-side elevations or in cramped conditions. The high glazing allows light into the rooms and enables effective ventilation. Unique on the market are Schüco's portfères in PVC-U systems, in which an all-glass or composite metal balustrade is attached directly to the window frame for a clean, minimalist effect. In addition to the extremely fashionable all-glass designs, openwork balustrades composed of tubes and rods in a vertical or horizontal arrangement are also available. The shade of the metal elements can be perfectly matched to the appearance of the window frames for a harmonious effect.

Schüco balustrades can be combined with many Schüco PVC-U systems, such as LivIng, LivIng Alu Inside or Symbiotic, among others. Also of interest for light-filled multi-story buildings is the Schüco LivIng move system, which allows the realization of customized PVC-U sliding door and window concepts that meet the highest requirements in terms of comfort, energy efficiency, security and design. The solution, which provides a wide passage light to the terrace or balcony, is an excellent alternative to traditional opening balcony doors due to the space-saving opening. In addition to high thermal insulation and the option of using glazing up to 54 mm thick, the door offers high waterproofing up to Class 9A, so it provides maximum protection from driving rain even on higher floors. An additional advantage of the solution is the RC2 class burglary resistance.
