Design in harmony with nature|PdD

Tomorrow, April 22, we celebrate Earth Day, and on this occasion we present projects that combine original design and ecology.

ANTROPO chair

The furniture designed by Wojciech Mierzwa is an example of a closed-loop product. It was made with 3D printing technology using advanced robotics and modern recycled material. The plastic is obtained from waste wood and biopolymers. It is reusable for multiple uses. Antropo is also available in a version made of plastic sourced from old fishing nets fished from the Baltic Sea.

- It is an object incorporating human ergonomics into its shape and made just for the sake of it. The result of the entire process of our evolution. The result of human skill, robotics and technological advancement, which we have been reaching for centuries. There is modernity and humanism in it. It is an object on a human scale, shy of the artifacts that define the ages. The word "anthropo" lies in the essence of this chair - says Wojciech Mierzwa.

The chair is completely biodegradable

SAMMANLÄNKAD collection

Little Sun, founded in 2012 by artist Olafur Eliasson and engineer Frederik Ottesen, has created a special collection of solar-powered lamps in collaboration with IKEA. With the functional lamps, their creators want to inspire people to use renewable energy sources more often. There are two products in the collection. The first is an LED table lamp. The second is a portable LED lamp designed for travel, among other things.

KOHTI chair

The design by Ukrainian studio Levantin Design has been awarded at the International Design Awards. The chair received the Silver award in the Design for Society-Eco-Sustainable Design category. The name of the KOHTI chair means "towards" from Finnish and refers to creating in the spirit of zero waste and circular management of materials. Black and white HDPE polyethylene shampoo bottles were used for its seat.
