According to data, as many as 800 million people in the world live without electricity. Meanwhile, the sun is the most powerful natural energy source, which is also available to everyone. Little Sun, a company founded in 2012 by artist Olafur Eliasson and engineer Frederik Ottesen, has decided to take advantage of this. The organization is working to provide affordable lighting and energy solutions to communities without access to electricity. Little Sun is initiating climate action and through this collaboration wants to provoke people around the world to think about people living without access to electricity. Now the company has teamed up with IKEA to create the SAMMANLÄNKAD collection. With functional lamps, their creators want to inspire people to use solar energy more often.

The collection includes two products. The first is an LED table lamp. The product is multifunctional. It can be a beautiful desk or ceiling lamp and can also serve as a flashlight when removed from the stand. It's high-tech with an original design that includes many references to the planetary system. The gyroscope, inspired by the movement of the planets around the sun, rotates in all directions, so it will illuminate every nook and cranny of the house. The second offering is a portable LED lamp designed for travel, among other things. With fully charged batteries, the lamp can also serve as a power bank.
