"Lotus flower" - a Polish sofa that conquers the design world

On the surface, it is an ordinary piece of furniture - a couch on which to sit or lie down. But can it be more than that? Can it tell a story, combine tradition with modernity and at the same time become an object that conquers the international design scene? The answer is brought by the "Lotus Flower" sofa - a design by Boguslaw Barnaś, founder of BXBstudio Bogusław Barnaś. This unique piece of furniture has just won the prestigious SIT Furniture Design Award 2025 in the category of sofas and couches. More than 400 designs from 44 countries were submitted to the competition, and the "Lotus Flower" won the jury's praise for its innovation, workmanship and unique form. The award ceremony will be held on November 21, 2025 in Switzerland.

A sofa that combines nature and history

At BXB studio, furniture design is a natural extension of the studio's architectural activities.

We design not only buildings and their interiors, but also furniture. Our philosophy is based on references to tradition and nature, which gives coherence to all our realizations, regardless of the scale of the project

- Boguslaw Barnaś says.

"Lotus Flower" perfectly reflects this idea. The inspiration for the sofa was the lotus flower - a symbol of harmony, lightness and elegance. The form of the furniture combines the minimalism of contemporary design with references to the Baroque and Art Nouveau, creating a design that is both modern and timeless. The furniture was designed to become an icon - a sofa recognizable from the first glance, which fits into both luxury interiors and modern living spaces. The form of the "Lotus Flower" is subtle, organic and harmonious, yet expressive and full of character.

Details that make a difference

The uniqueness of the sofa lies in the materials and precision of construction. The construction combines steel and wood, guaranteeing durability while keeping the form light. Carefully designed stitching and details highlight the craftsmanship and give the sofa a distinctive, elegant look. Every element - from the frame to the upholstery - has been refined with harmony and functionality in mind, creating a piece of furniture that combines comfort with aesthetics.

BXB studio - more than architecture

The sofa was not created in a vacuum. BXB studio's portfolio also includes other furniture projects that, like the "Lotus Flower," combine functionality with refined aesthetics: the DNA table, the FALA coffee table or the Puff Uff pouffe, produced by the Ikoni brand and used for the first time in Hybrid Interiors - BXB studio's headquarters in Warsaw. These projects demonstrate the studio's consistency in creating a coherent design language that combines tradition, nature and modern minimalism.
