FORTA-FERRO® is a structural synthetic macrofiber designed to improve the mechanical properties and increase the durability of concrete. FORTA-FERRO® is a blend of copolymer fibers (95%) in the form of twisted bundles and polypropylene fibers (5%), thus reducing or completely eliminating the plastic shrinkage of concrete. FORTA-FERRO® improves the flexural strength of concrete and increases its durability. It imparts resilience to concrete elements and increases their impact resistance.
Scattered reinforcement in the form of FORTA-FERRO® structural fiber has been used on the project "Construction of the high-speed streetcar route from Kasprzaka Street to Wilanów in sections: from Pulawska Street to St. Boniface Street and the Stegny loop, and from St. Boniface Street to Branickiego Street".
The construction of the streetcar route to Wilanów is the most anticipated investment of Warsaw Trams and the largest streetcar project in Poland. It is also an investment of strategic importance for the capital city and its residents. The route, with a total length of nearly 19 km, will eventually connect Wola, Odolany, Dworzec Zachodni, Ochota, Mokotów and Wilanów.
Due to the importance of this investment, it was decided to use only proven high-quality products, including FORTA-FERRO® fiber. It is used as structural reinforcement for the slab and footings under the tracks. The dosage ranged from 1.5 kg/m3for the slab and 3 kg/m3for the footings. FORTA-FERRO® fiber was chosen for its excellent structural properties confirmed by studies and many investments around the world, but also for its low wear and corrosion resistance, which plays a key role in outdoor investments exposed to all kinds of weather conditions.
