Open spaces and delicate vintage - an interior in Warsaw's Mokotow district

13 of September '22

How to combine a delicate retro style referring to mid-century modern with wooden fins and striking interior divisions. Butterfly Studio proposes interesting solutions.

Known for realizations in Japandi style, unconventional combinations of copper with green or blue, as well as the use of flamingos in the arrangement, Butterfly Studio created another project, which is a metamorphosis of an apartment in Warsaw's Mokotow district.

The clients were not intimidated by bold color combinations, natural materials, lots of wood and a mix of large tiles and mosaics. An interesting requirement was to avoid joints on the floor, hence the reign of oak herringbone and micro-cement.

Kitchen

The kitchen is a large and open space that is an important part of the house. The investors love to cook and hold gatherings at the table in the house. Here you will find a unique oak herringbone on the floor. The fronts of the kitchen cabinets are pure white, gently contrasting with light pink tiles and black-colored appliances. The vintage character is complemented by a 1950s stylized appliance refrigerator.

The kitchen island, like the dining room, is mainly dominated by wood - in the form of accessories or trimmings combined with delicate white visible on the countertop, hockers or chairs. Next to the kitchen space, you'll also find a white wall with a black trellis, on which you'll find pots with lush green plants.

Living room

In the living room, the space that directly connects to the kitchen, we will again find herringbone on the floor. Note the open glazing, providing plenty of light. In case of too much sunlight, a black curtain helps. On the wall, wooden laths were chosen, combining with a black RTV bookcase and openwork shelves. The effect is completed by a corner sofa and a large palm tree.

Bedroom

In the bedroom, the color combination of the whole room was interestingly solved. Delicate pinks and whites on the wall are contrasted with greenery. On the floor, classically, you will find herringbone. The wide bed is a color of soft green falling into olive green. Next to the bed, on either side of it, you will find simple coffee tables made of wood. The effect is completed by a well-known design example, which is a modern version of the 366 armchair.

Children's room

In the child's room, above all, the effect is created by the wooden and white built-in furniture and an interesting desk solution. On the wall you will find posters with an urban theme of cities, as well as a small wallpaper with a motif of balloons and airships.

Two bathrooms

It's hard not to notice the two bathrooms in the interior. The first, in soft pinks, is a space dictated by functionalism. Black accessories and fixtures blend together. In the second, they opted for terazzo combined with wood, used in a mini sauna.
