Interior in glamour style, i.e. shine, chic and elegance

The name glamour comes from the English language and means charm, glamour, glitz or splendor. Such are also the characteristics of glamour style in residential interiors. Some love it, others avoid it, but few remain indifferent to it.

From aesthetic poverty to aesthetic poverty, or the genesis of glamour style

Theglamour style emerged in the wake of minimalism in the 1930s and 1940s in Hollywood. In the arrangements of houses belonging to movie stars began to return, in a way, to Baroque and Rococo ornamentation, but in a modern way. After years of practical but inelegant solutions, people began to expect aesthetics at a higher level. Ornaments, floral ornaments, decorative stones and gold were used , straight lines were replaced by wavy ones.

Richly decorated interiors became an indicator of modernity and luxury. A new interior trend began, which gradually evolved from splendor, bordering on kitsch, to a style that was increasingly refined and subtle. It also slowly made its way into the homes of less wealthy Americans.

This trend, which is almost 90 years old, has also appeared in the interiors of Polish homes. We can create it with furniture, lighting and other accessories. However, it is important to maintain consistency and harmony, and above all, to exercise moderation in the use of decorations.

Features of glamour style

Glamour is not a strictly defined style. It is certainly the opposite of minimalism, but in a way it is also a continuation of it. It is based on simple forms, but weaves rich ornamentation into them. To some extent, therefore, it is a style of contrasts.

As a basic in the glamour style we use grandiose, upholstered furniture inspired by the Baroque. These will be armchairs and sofas made of shiny fabrics (velvet, satin, velour or leather) with stitching, quilting, finished with buttons, crystals or rhinestones.

Shiny accessories are essential here. They can be imitations of gold, silver, copper or brass. Ornate crystal chandeliers, sh inymirror frames , shiny knobs and furniture handles are also used. Natural stone patterns are also often used, so, for example, tiles imitating marble. Stucco and patterned wallpaper with floral or geometric motifs or using a variety of textures appear.

Arrangements in glamour style, use black, navy blue, dark greens, purples, purple, powder pink and different tones of gray.

Marriage of the past with the present

Glamour interiors are inspired by past eras, skillfully woven into contemporary trends. Walls decorated with stucco, a large quilted sofa, a designer table, a lamp with gold accents and a marble shelf is a combination that is a bit overdone, but thanks to this it settles well in spacious interiors.

This style, by design, is not likely to be characterized by lightness and finesse, but with certain nuances, such as a slight tarnishing of glossy surfaces or maintaining color consistency, we can tame it to some extent, so that the interior does not resemble an old-style palace or museum. Thanks to skillful arrangement, we will feel freshness, chic and elegance in such an environment.
