"10 Questions to an Interior Architect" is a series of short talks inspired by the series "10 Questions to...". This time our attention is turned to interior architects. In today's episode Ewelina Białobrzewska talks about her approach to design.

Ewelina Białobrzewska - a certified interior designer, who with great satisfaction and a smile runs the design studio 4 angles a table 5. She has completed many interior projects both private and public throughout Poland. She has collaborated with IKEA. She hosts her own webinar series "4 angles in style...". She was co-host of the webinar series and DOMODESIGN workshops. She appeared as an expert in such campaigns as: "Week for Home", "Archiday" or the podcast "Calmly about interiors". She also designed for the Polsat TV program "Our New Home". Her designs are appreciated and published on many interior design portals. She became an interior designer out of passion and the need to fulfill dreams of beautiful and practical interiors.

1. home for me is.

Tranquility. Family. A safe haven.

2.The key to a successful interior design is....

Communication between interior designer - investors - contractors, because trust is earned during design and implementation. I, however, have noticed for a long time that my key to a successful project is to observe and listen to investors and my intuition.

3 I look for inspiration....

Around myself. In the surrounding world, which is so fascinating that I can only be limited in it by my imagination. Whether I'm out in nature, in an art gallery or at a concert, all it takes is a good look around to take a handful from a seemingly insignificant juxtaposition or play of light and design beautiful and functional interiors. Everything can be an inspiration.

4 In cooperation with the investor, the most important thing is....

Listening and speaking to the architect and investors, that is, again, communication. I would also add: mutual respect and understanding.

5. My favorite design style is...

I don't have a favorite style. I like all of them, because in each style you can create beautiful and functional interiors. Each of them has something interesting in it, which can develop the designer's imagination and interest the investor. In fact, most interiors designed today are a fusion of different styles. Of course, there are interiors that are locked into the framework of a particular style, such as classic and period, and that's great. However, combining seemingly incompatible styles is a joyful creation. Then the very process of creation forces you to look, check, combine to finally create an interior that breaks out of the patterns, from the already named styles.

6. the most valuable object in my home is....

I have been minimizing the amount of stuff in my life for a long time. I'm one of those people who, when they have something in their home that they don't really need or that is broken, I get tired inside and quickly give such things to someone or throw them away. However, despite everything, there are a few things that are sentimentally valuable and I don't intend to get rid of them: a more than a century old rusted mirror in a wooden frame, a very old wooden chair that I refurbished with my dad, two pillows that my grandmother crocheted, and three sugar bowls from Ząbkowice. But enough is enough, because there was supposed to be one, and it turned out to be a bit more.

7 The most common mistake made when doing interior design yourself is.

Not taking the help of an interior designer? Haha. But if someone wants to do it himself, he very often makes the mistake of choosing colors and materials. The mistake is to check or make a sample on the wall, relying only on a small snippet of a pattern book or, even worse, pictures on the Internet or from friends. The second mistake I have to mention is looking at interiors through the prism of one thing rather than holistically. It is often the case that we may like, for example, one lamp ,which, when we place it in the interior of our dreams, does not fit at all. Unfortunately, something that "shines" on display in the store, in the interior will not give such an effect. And this is not because something is ugly, but because most people do not have a developed spatial imagination. Therefore, it is very helpful to create juxtapositions of so-called moodboards, which will guard against wrong interior decisions.

8. my favorite material is....

Here the answer is similar to that of styles - I do not have a favorite material. Lately I've been closer to natural, although I very much appreciate the derivatives of plastic, which is so malleable and graceful. However, it pains me that instead of recycling plastic packaging, new plastic is being produced.

9 A trend I wish would pass away already is.

Interiors furnished entirely with IKEA assortments. Of course, I appreciate IKEA's resources, but in reasonable quantities and in combination with furnishings from outside that store. When I see this repetitiveness and lack of breakthrough it annoys me a bit.

10: I would like to live in... someday.

A place where I will feel that this is my place on earth, my home.
