Sometimes it is not the size of a house that proves its uniqueness, but the way the space begins to breathe. This is precisely the effect achieved in the realization by Adam Jankowski and Kamil Paszek of AMJ studio studio. - a private residence near Poznań, where Japandi style becomes not just an aesthetic, but a philosophy of life. It is a place created for those who seek solace. For those who love light, the smell of natural wood, the green of leaves in the corner of the room and the touch of cool stone in the morning. In this space nothing screams - everything harmonizes.

Japandi - more than a style.
It's a way of thinking about home
Japandi interiors are a meeting of two cultures: Japanese restraint and Scandinavian simplicity. The result? A space that does not overwhelm, but invites you to be "here and now". Subdued color palette, natural materials, ergonomic forms. There is no room for randomness here. Every element has its justification. It's a style loved by residents of big cities looking for an oasis of calm in their own home. This is an interior that works on mental comfort. Design that gives you a break.

A house with a soul - the story of the interior
The investors who entrusted the architects with this project are travelers. Fascinated by the culture of Japan, they wanted to transfer its essence to their own home. The project was created in 2023-2024 and is much more than a catalog realization.
The foundation: natural materials and light
Wood plays the first fiddle here - and not just anywood. The floors are laid with light parquet with a clear grain pattern. You can feel its texture under your feet - a bit rough, but warm. This wood lives with the house. It changes with the seasons and the light of the day. In the windows - solid wood frames, and the stairs? A real functional sculpture. On the walls - natural stone. Not as a luxurious addition, but as part of a cohesive composition. In the kitchen stone countertops and wall cladding. In the living room, a large slab behind the TV, which is the background for the entire living area. Simplicity at its most beautiful.

Furniture - craftsmanship and proportion
The interior would not be complete without furniture with perfect proportions. All elements - from the dining table, to the chairs, to the kitchen cabinet - are made of solid wood. The form? Simple. Function? Always in first place. There is no wall-to-wall development here. The furniture is free-standing - as if each piece had its own story. Attention is drawn to the large wooden table - the center of family life. Above it - a subtle, contemporary lamp that creates a circle of warmth and intimacy in the evenings.

Light: from morning mist to evening silence
The designers attached great importance to daylight, which naturally changes the atmosphere of the house. Light curtains made of soft linen do not block the light - on the contrary, they diffuse it like a photographic filter. In the evening, ambient lighting comes into play. LEDs hidden in the built-ins, sconces with warm light, and decorative lamps with round forms. These rounded shapes, by the way, appear throughout the interior - in mirrors, handles and even in the lines of furniture.
Greenery as a household name
In the spirit of biophilic design, the designers invited plants into the interior. Greenery permeates the interior, integrates with it. A large potted plant in a ceramic pot appears in the living room. It is not only a decoration, but also an air filter and a lively color accent.

Japandi style in your own home - how to get started?
Japandi style does not require remodeling the entire apartment. You can introduce it gradually - and with great visual effect.
1 - Bet on the color of nature
Beiges, broken whites, olive green, light brown. Avoid cool tones and glossy surfaces.
2 Invest in quality, not quantity
Choose one piece of solid wood furniture instead of a set made of board. Quality pays off - also visually.
3. limit decorations
Instead of many trinkets - one vase with a branch, a ceramic bowl, a few carefully selected graphics.
4. take care of the light
Not just the main source, but several additional ones: wall lamps, LED strips, table lamps.
5. plants - always yes.
Ficus, monstera, zamiokulkas. Introduce greenery into any room. A living plant works better than a painting.

A house that breathes
Japandi style is more than a trend. It is a need to return to values: simplicity, balance, harmony with nature. The project near Poznań shows how it is possible to create a modern interior that is not cold or impersonal, but on the contrary - full of peace and emotion. This is a house that does not impose itself with its form, but continues in the background of everyday life. Well-designed, functional, friendly. And it can be an inspiration for all those who dream that their own four corners will really start to foster a good life.
