In what to accumulate firewood?

Autumn is coming. Warm evenings spent on the terrace are slowly becoming a thing of the past. So we gather at home and with pleasure, if we have the opportunity, start the fireplace season. In what to accumulate firewood, so that it is aesthetically pleasing and at the same time practical?

A niche next to the fireplace

Storing wood in the garden is one thing. The other is storing it at home. For our convenience, it should be stored directly in the vicinity of the fireplace. A very aesthetic and convenient place is a special niche placed in its facade, or side. This is a solution that should be planned already at the design stage, but it is extremely convenient, as they are usually quite large niches in which we can store fuel for several days. Access to the wood is free, and the place itself provides additional drying of the logs.

Placing a low bench at the level of the hearth will also look attractive. You can sit on it, or use it as a countertop or shelf. Tightly filling the niche below will give an interesting decorative visual effect, as long as the logs are reasonably straight, of course. Otherwise, baskets or wood racks work better than niches.

Wood racks

Depending on the style of our home interior, we can also opt for a slightly cheaper solution. A freestanding structure will be just as convenient as a niche in the wall, although we will storeonly a dozen pieces of wood on it, that is, enough to burn once, and the autumn weather does not always encourage us to go to the garage or woodshed.

There are many models available on the market. However, wrought metal racks prevail. Some are simple, minimalist, or even quite clumsy in form, others are more ornate. Some catch the eye with the simplicity of their workmanship, others tempt with finesse and subtlety, which is surprising when the goal is to store wood.

The rack can be rectangular, or it can be cylindrical and form a decorative wall. It is worth making it an interesting decoration of the interior, although regardless of the aesthetic choice, it is important that it provides protection for the logs from moisture and rot, and protects our floor from damage.

Baskets for logs

They allow us to hold wood that will serve us for a not-too-long burn. But we can freely move them to another location, and they are often light enough that we can bring wood from outside in them. There are also baskets on wheels, which will make it easier for us to move them to another place. In stores we can also find many designs of baskets that will perfectly enhance the style of our living room.

Wicker, felt and leather baskets, although they will not be very durable, they add charm to the interior and warm it visually, so they will serve us perfectly as a temporary solution.

Recycled containers

It is also an interesting idea to use old containers and furniture that were not made for this purpose to collect wood. Old TV cabinets, metal boxes, wooden or even plastic crates will be perfect for storing firewood, provided they are properly adapted.
