Bright and functional. Finished with class. Cozy, but consistently restrained. This apartment is proof that luxury doesn't need large space - instead, it needs consistency, flair and light. Martyna Midel 's project is a gem among small apartments for rent in Lodz - a space that on a neutral background allows to tell the personal story of the future tenant. The 36-square-meter apartment, located on the upper floor of the Tobaco Park II development on Kopernika Street in Lodz, charms with its tranquility, naturalness and refined function. Although small in size, it appears much larger thanks to its glazed loggia and thoughtful layout. And thanks to the harmony of textures and colors - it even envelops.

Ergonomics meets aesthetics
The space was designed sparingly, but with great sensitivity - every centimeter has its use here. The whole consists of a hallway with a capacious closet, a living room with a kitchenette and dining area, a bedroom separated by a glass wall and a bathroom with a hidden door. It's an interior in neutral tones - contemporary and timeless at the same time. Natural wood in a light shade warms the whole, and the furniture is connected by details in the form of fins, creating visual unity. The unique character of the interior is given by a light steel wall with fluted glass, which separates the bedroom from the living area, at the same time letting the light in and optically raising the height of the room.

It was possible to wall in the open space. But this solution makes us perceive the space as open, while at the same time gaining the possibility to temporarily separate the bedroom and living room zones
- explains the architect.
This is a subtle reference to Lodz townhouses, which are part of the local heritage.

Open but cozy
- Living room with kitchenette and dining area
After crossing the threshold of the apartment, we enter the living space, which combines three functions: living room, kitchen and dining room. Although small, this open area breathes light and calm. The floor lined with herringbone wood brings a touch of classic elegance to the interior, while the cream walls optically enlarge it, enhancing the impression of lightness. This is a minimalist interior, but not ascetic. The kitchenette was designed not to dominate the space, but at the same time to meet all the needs of daily life. Matte beige fronts, light-colored countertops and a white kitchen apron create a harmonious, subdued composition.

In the center of the space stood a round table of light wood on a fluted base. It is surrounded by light chairs with woven seats, introducing a discreet reference to Scandinavian aesthetics.

A living room that breathes light
The lounge area was organized with equal attention to proportions. On one side - a bright sofa with cushions and a low coffee table. On the other - a chest of drawers under the TV with fluted fronts and black handles, on which there was room for books, a vase and a decorative bowl. Lighting mounted on ceiling rails introduces a modern touch to the interior and allows flexible operation of light depending on the needs of the day and the mood. A subdued palette - a mix of beige, gray and cream - became the leitmotiv of the entire arrangement. It was cashmere - soft, sensual, luxurious - that inspired the designer to create an interior that is not overwhelming, but soothing. All this creates a harmonious, naturally flowing space.

Bedroom with intimacy in the background
Behind the glass wall is a bedroom with textured wallpaper, a desk hidden in an alcove and a closet with plain fronts. Wallpaper also appears in the hallway, introducing additional depth and coziness.
The textures add depth and avoid the feeling of a "flat" box. In the bathroom I used large-format tiles, the surface of which imitates stone and at the same time continues the "cashmere thread". Feeling the textures at hand, the soft materials soften the ascetic expression of the decor without arguing with the idea of minimalism
- emphasizes Midel.

Bathroom like a home spa
- Elegance in tones of beige
The bathroom is an extension of the aesthetics of the entire apartment. Maintained in light tones, with large tiles with a subtle marble pattern, it impresses with its simplicity and class. The shiny surfaces reflect light, optically enlarging the space, while introducing a luxurious atmosphere. The focal point is an oval countertop washbasin, set on a beige cabinet with smooth, minimalist fronts. A braided basket in the open part of the built-in is a warm accent that softens the linearity and adds textural depth. Above the sink - a large, round mirror in a black frame and two subtle spherical lamps that spread soft, diffused light.

Next to it - a shower with transparent glass and chrome hardware. The main role here is played by a black surface-mounted rainshower - modern, expressive and extremely functional. It's a choice that fits not only with the aesthetics of the project, but also with its practicality: surface-mounted installation saves time and wall interference, which is sometimes crucial in small apartments. Although the investor dreamed of a concealed mixer, technical conditions did not allow such a solution. The choice fell on the Silia surface-mounted model - and it turned out to be a hit.

Light as a mood director
Lighting plays a key role in this apartment. Spotlights on rails, scattered wall sconces, bedside lamps - all chosen to emphasize textures, soften lines and model the space. This makes the interior not only beautiful, but also functional and ready to live in.
In the kitchen area I used spotlight rails, which I really like, because they can be directed. Above the main table no lamp hung centrally. We left it up to the people who live here to decide on the location of the table, and after all, the spotlights can also be "measured" into the table top. In the living room, I have already used diffused lighting, as in the bedroom, where twin, simplified lamps, referring in color to the rest of the fixtures, have been hung on both sides of the bed
- says the designer.

Materials that speak in whispers
What sets Martyna Midel's design apart is the sophisticated handling of textures. Corrugations, braids, natural wood, satin surfaces - these are what create the sensual layer of this interior. Black appearing in details - mirror frames, handles, light fixtures - plays the role of jewelry here. It accentuates, but does not dominate. It's a space that doesn't need unnecessary embellishments to make an impression.
Small apartment, great comfort
This project shows that square footage does not define a lifestyle. It's the quality of the space that counts - and this one, with its thoughtful layout, natural materials and refined details, gives the user a sense of comfort, aesthetics and tranquility.
