H+H Silicate AT25 AkuTerm - professional thermal and acoustic protection in a single-layer wall

06 of February '24

H+H Silikat AT25 AkuTerm is an innovative block for erecting single-layer structural partitions that meet both thermal and acoustic insulation requirements for interior walls separating heated rooms from stairwells and corridors.

Multifaceted protection in a single-layer wall

Legislation requires the use of partitions with specific parameters between rooms with different functions, both in multi-family residential construction, as well as in service and public utility ones.

- Acoustic requirements for interior walls are contained in the PN-B-02151-3 standard, which specifies the values of the acoustic insulation index R'A1. For example, for the separation of living quarters from corridors and staircases in the case of multifamily buildings, this indicator should not be lower than 50 dB, and for analogous walls between rooms in hotels of three-star category and above and corridors 45 dB. In turn, the regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure on the technical conditions that needs to be met by buildings and their location specifies the requirements of the thermal conductivity coefficient for walls separating heated rooms from staircases and corridors at Δti ≥ 8°C atUC(max) no higher than 1.0 W/(m2*K) — explains Robert Janiak, Product Manager of H+H.

Therefore, the legal norms mentioned above imply the obligation to erect walls separating apartments from staircases and corridors in a way that ensures that the requirements for both acoustic and thermal insulation are met.

The use of H+H Silikat AT25 AkuTerm blocks makes it possible to achieve the required indicators in a single-layer partition without the use of additional insulating materials.

Benefits of using H+H Silikat AT25 AkuTerm blocks

H+H Silikat AT25 AkuTerm blocks are silicate products with reduced density (max. 1100 kg/m3 gross in dry state). The lower density of the silicate material structure raises its thermal protection properties compared to standard silicate products lowering the λ10, dry coefficient to λ10,dry = 0.32 W/(m*K), which translates for a 25 cm wide wall into a heat transfer coefficient equal to Uc = 0.96 W/(m2*K).

The material is still characterized by high acoustic insulation characteristic of silicate products (RA1 = 55 dB).

H+H Silikat AT25 AkuTerm also retains the REI 240 fire resistance class at a load level of ∝ ≤ 0.8 - so a partition made of it can be a class 3 fire zone boundary with a strength of up to 240 minutes of fire load. The structural property of the elements and the compressive strength of at least 5.0 N/mm2 is also preserved.

H+H Silikat AT25 AkuTerm blocks will work well for professional construction and development projects, as well as for individual investments and single-family construction.

- In this case, the applicable standards are definitely less restrictive. However, raising the thermal and acoustic standard, for example, in the case of a wall separating living quarters from the garage or technical spaces, can significantly improve the comfort of use, as well as reduce the operating costs of the building — explains Robert Janiak.

The possibility of making the walls as a single layer also reduces the cost of the investment and speeds up the process of performing masonry work. Their speed is also influenced by the reduced weight of masonry elements, making them easier to carry and lay.
