Concrete enlivened with detail - the art of handling contrast in a subdued bathroom

20 of April '22

The climate of the interior is created by accents. In the case of a small bathroom space, they must be properly thought out to emphasize and at the same time not dominate the entire arrangement. Therefore, design sense is extremely important here. The result of the balance of colors and patterns should be an interior that is harmonious, optically consistent, but also subtly intriguing. Such is the concept proposed by the Rzeszow-based studio CoZa Studio, which specializes in modern and elegantly toned designs.

Bathroom with patterned accents

Here is a bathroom, nomen omen, bathed in gray. Subdued and soothing, but not boring. Its monochromatic arrangement alludes to elegance and good chic, and the risk of monotony is effectively prevented by intriguing patterned accents occurring in two places. Such a combination is a classic of world design, suitable for those who are not afraid of contrasting combinations. The proportions of shades are rather shifted towards dark colors, both in the bathroom and in the rest of the M_11 apartment. Anthracite, graphite or ash give the interior an impression of intimacy, thus providing a feeling of relaxation and calming the senses.

Psychology of black and white

There is a common opinion that it is the color that makes the interior interesting, but the right combination of black and white can also arouse curiosity and even delight. It's a perfect duo that seems to be always on trend. Mysterious black and graceful, pure white complement each other on the basis of opposites. Their combination, as a kind of struggle, and simultaneously complementing each other like yin and yang, can dynamize the arrangement, making it extremely impressive.

Modern materials

We notice modern materials in the design. Microcement, which is used for the floor and walls, is juxtaposed with elements made of wood, strongly emphasized by the grain, and the unframed, transparent glass of the shower. This brings to mind a naturally occurring combination of stones, trees and water. Such an environment is conducive to relaxation, such as taking long, relaxing baths.

Plants in pots were also proposed to enliven the interior. Elements in the shade of anthracite - the door surround, toilet bowl and bathtub - give expression to the entire arrangement. Minimalist accessories, such as shower and sink faucets and an unframed mirror, colorfully blend into the background.

Most eye-catching are the frivolous patterns of ceramic tiles, which seem to break out of the order of smooth, uniform planes. They are at the same time extremely artistic and give a luxurious look to the whole.

Choosing lighting

Quite a challenge, posed to the designers, was the choice of lighting. Dark, matte surfaces absorb light more than others, and achieving a warm expression requires great design precision. Overhead lighting in the form of led pendants was chosen here, as well as discreet light strips placed in the toilet area and above the shower. A vertical fluorescent lamp was used next to the mirror.

Timelessness of the interior

The juxtaposition of gray makes the interior cozy, but also elegant and timeless, while black and white accents contribute to the artistic effect of the arrangement. In such a bathroom we can certainly relax pleasantly and regenerate not only the body, but also the soul.
