Functional interior of Gdansk apartment

22 of December '22

The interior design is the concept of a young architect from Gdansk, Monika Niemiec. However, the Komandor Pomorze Branch is responsible for the design of all furniture, its manufacture and installation.

Living room

The apartment features a living room with a spacious sofa, a multimedia zone and a kitchenette and dining area with a large table. Bright colors of furniture fronts and wooden countertops dominate here. The harmonious division between bright vertical elements and wood on horizontal surfaces is broken by laths on the wall of the TV zone and in the hallway. The closet in the living room is suspended - this is one of the clever solutions that the investors wanted. Thanks to it, the cleaning robot has easy access to every corner. The spacious sofa is a favorite meeting place for the household members - right next to the four-person table, where the children love to do their homework and the whole family eats meals together.

Kitchen

Thelack of handles in the upper cabinets in the kitchen makes the shape of the furniture emphasize the minimalist character of the interior. The fronts are elongated and extend beyond the body of the built-in - this makes it easier to open and avoids fingerprints on the doors. The upper cabinets are extended all the way to the ceiling, which gives additional storage space and prevents the accumulation of dirt, which is difficult to remove at this height.

Closet

The apartment managed to set aside space for a small but convenient closet. The U-shaped space was divided symmetrically into two wings, one for each household member. There are capacious drawers with a silent closing system and a set of shelves. The central part is a common area of the owners intended for hanging things. A pipe system suspended under the shelves was used here. As in the living room, here too it was important to provide free access for the cleaning robot.

Bathroom

In the bathroom, the cabinet under the sink draws attention. As in other parts of the apartment, it is suspended, making cleaning underneath easy. The dark color of the fronts stands out against the gray and white used throughout the interior. The wooden decor on the countertop is a reference to a similar finish in the living area. A large drawer conceals a pull-out laundry basket. The section under the sink is three smaller drawers, with space for cosmetics or grooming accessories. There is also a pull-out trombone-type hanger between the shower and the cabinet, ideal for a towel, for example. The shower area was arranged in dark colors - additionally complemented by the black profiles of the shower cubicle and lighting fixtures. In the area above the toilet a built-in cabinet was located. Side panels facilitate its opening, so that the fronts are not blocked by, for example, a radiator. At the same time, it was possible in this way to maintain a harmonious arrangement of the fronts, making the bathroom visually more orderly. Importantly: the area behind the blends is as available for use as possible. No cubic centimeter is wasted here.

Laundry room

The apartment has another bathroom, with a small sink and a toilet. A home laundry room is also located here. A tall cabinet with a symmetrical arrangement of hinged fronts was located on one of the walls. Exactly flush with the tiles, the fronts have a milled handle. The simple procedure creates an original composition, behind which the washing machine and dryer are located. Wide-angle hinges allow the door to open as much as possible, but at the same time they do not snag on the toilet or the wall. The lack of a bottom plinth and the fronts, which are gently undercut from the bottom, make it easier to access the built-in in case of equipment failure.
