Timeless interiors of the villa on the slope

12 of June '23

The nearly 400-square-meter house is located in Rumia. Carefully selected works of art and design, as well as numerous inspirations from the surrounding nature, come to the fore in the design by Pawel Leczycki of MODEKO.STUDIO.

Design in line with emotions

Thanks to its foundation on the slope, the villa provides spectacular views and customized functional solutions. From the street, the house appears to be one-story. It's only when you step through the door that you see that below it spreads a spacious, representative living area. And behind its windows, a stunning landscape with the crowns of the trees overgrowing the hillside.

- Many architects create interiors based on inspirations collected by the investor. At the Modeko studio, however, we know that what one likes is not always the same as where and how one wants to live. Starting from the question of functionality and expected living comfort, we come to the thread of emotions in our conversations with clients. How owners want to use particular spaces and how they feel in them. It is in the sphere of emotions that the house evokes that we see modern luxury," emphasizes Pawel Leczycki, the project's author.

Colors and textures of nature

The range of colors used throughout the house is very consistent, and at the same time exudes coziness. It is based on broken whites, grays and beiges. He combines them with earthy, maroon colors. Introduced in a delicate way, the more expressive shades subtly enrich the interiors. This rich but discreetly varied range of colors was taken from the nature surrounding the house. It includes several types of wood, most notably oak brushed to make the grain visible, then smoked and stained in a customized shade. Similar textural qualities include decorative plasters and fabrics - from smooth materials to structured plaids and bouclé.

Representative entrance area

The entrance to the house is located on the upper floor - the only one that is visible from the street. The hallway surprises with its form and the variety of materials used. The upholstered wall here takes the form of a soft relief, composed of modules of varying thickness and varied fabric textures. On its background stood a console made according to an individual design. The composition of the vestibule is complemented by hangers with unobvious forms. Meanwhile, hidden in the mirrored wall is the entrance to a separate dressing room for outerwear and shoes.

Reading with a view

Themezzanine overlooking the living room serves as a reading area. Here you'll find an elegant library cabinet that combines wood, stone and glass. The play with materials, which will recur in many variations in subsequent interiors, is complemented by the play of light. Next to the bookcase stood comfortable armchairs. For the comfort of the household members, the upper floor also included an ingeniously separated guest room. A mirrored door next to the bookcase leads to it.

Strong accents

The living room opens onto a terrace with a pool. The relaxing atmosphere of this space is complemented by an atmospheric fireplace. The space impresses with a spectacular sculptural composition for the full height of the wall (7.5 m). Its structure is highlighted by linear LED lighting. The ornament of this space is also a unique, coherent composition of coffee tables and lighting above them.

The living room connects to the dining room. On a gray-beige microcement spout, uniform throughout the living area, stood an intimate table. It is accented by a unique spherical lamp. It is worth noting the large-format painting by Eva Jablonsky, which was exposed by light against the veneered wall. The composition of this area is complemented by quartzite pillars by the stairs. The same stone was also used in the kitchen space.

Versatile kitchen

The kitchen area consists of a wall unit and an island with a row of hockers. The kitchen island was made of Patagonia quartzite. It features a sink with a milled drainer. In a simple way, however, this zone can become a meeting place. The black-submerged alcove with a countertop can disappear behind pull-out fronts, usually hidden in discreet trays. System lighting, on the other hand, allows you to freely use functional, mood and decorative light.
